PhD Scholarships for the Study of theBiological Basis of Autism

Six scholarships are offered through a new program of Swinburne University:Swinburne Autism Bio-Research Initiative (SABRI). SABRI aims to be the pre-eminent research group in the Southern Hemisphere devoted to the studyof the biological foundations of Autism.Applications are invited from all relevant disciplines for projects that relate toone or more of the following broad areas and their association with Autism:ToxicologyBiochemistryEndocrinologyImmunologyMicrobiologyNeurologyApplicants may be from any relevant discipline (e.g.,psychophysiology, biomedicine, Environmentalscience, toxicology, biochemistry) and shouldhold an Honours level degree. Graduate Programs in Clinical Research

The Graduate Programs in Clinical Research are high calibre practical programs established to address the critical need for formal training opportunities in clinical research, which underpins the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of improved treatments for human disease.

Our programs offer a unique postgraduate medical professional development experience, integrating delivery from experts in their fields into a program structure and intensive delivery format designed to accommodate the needs of busy working professionals.

The technical expertise of the University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health and their affiliated organisations combined with the executive education expertise and management of Melbourne University Private, will provide an excellent foundation for your career or further studies in clinical research.

Who Should Enrol

Our graduate programs have been designed for professionals currently involved with clinical trials and clinical research and for those that want to enter this field. This includes doctors, nurses, pharmacists, university medical staff, university science staff (especially those from Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Genetics and Pharmacology), pharmaceutical company staff, physiotherapists and staff from biotechnology and life science companies.

Course Structure

Two award courses are offered: The Professional certificate in Clinical Research and The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research

The Professional Certificate in Clinical Research - requires successful completion of two 12.5 point subjects to achieve a total of 25 points.

•  Introduction to Clinical Research Methods; and

•  Basic Clinical Research Tools OR Managing Clinical Research Projects and Teams OR Responsibilities and Ethics of Clinical Research

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research - requires successful completion of four 12.5 point subjects to achieve a total of 50 points.

•  Introduction to Clinical Research Methods; and

  • Basic Clinical Research Tools; and
  • Managing Clinical Research Projects and Teams; and
  • Responsibilities and Ethics of Clinical Research

The Graduate Diploma and Masters awards are currently being developed, and the Graduate Certificate award will articulate directly into these higher awards.

There are two enrolment opportunities each year.
